Pyrex durability, but the most annoying spout...Jun 25, 2010 Let me start by saying that I do not regret the purchase, but this is definitely a product of Pyrex's that could use a small bit of redesign.
The spout is infuriating.
Pouring anything more viscous than water out of the spout creates, at best, unpredictable results. Sometimes I can pour perfectly (if slowly) and sometimes the contents just run down the side and come off the bottom of the cup. You'd better hope the destination for your contents is wide enough to encompass the full length of this measure - there will definitely be two streams of liquid coming out. I have never owned a measure that has had a spout with this issue. I find that I either have to dump the contents out in a rush, or pour EXTREMELY slowly. After six months or so of use there is no way that I've found to consistently pour out of the spout at a medium speed - slow enough to not splash, but fast enough that I don't spend 20-30 seconds pouring two cups.
With that in mind, the handle is quite comfortable, and the measurements are easy to read forwards, backwards, upside down (wait, what?) and in any other way you can think of.
I do recommend this product, but with the caveat of that terrible, terrible spout.
Fantastic Measuring CupMay 31, 2010 We purchased these (we bought two)to replace some old, faded, plastic ones we have had for years. I always avoided buying "glass" ones, afraid they would break easy,or crack if you put water back into them when they had just been used and were hot. These cups are very durable, won't crack when hot, and the red measurement markings are well defined and easy to read. They also don't fade over time. Worth every cent!

Great Liquid Measuring CupApr 19, 2010 There is generally not much to write about this measuring cup that hasn't already been written, but I just want to mention a few points:
1. This is a liquid measuring cup. Why would you need this? Because using dry measuring cups to measure liquids (which are meant to be leveled off at the very top with a knife) almost guarantees spillage. This cup prevents that. Conversely, you can't level off dry ingredients in this, so only use it for liquids.
2. This is both top and bottom dishwasher safe, microwave safe, and even oven safe, but not stove top safe.
3. Pyrex is very thick, and although I wouldn't test it by dropping it on the ground, it should last quite a while as long as you take moderately good care of it. Also, since it is not made of plastic, it will not disintegrate over time and leave microscopic particles of of plastic and chemicals in your food like plastic cups will.
4. If you frequently measure large amounts of liquid, there is another version of this cup that is meant for amounts larger than one cup.
Durability is an issueApr 05, 2010 This item is decently priced at $10, with supersaver shipping, and the 4 for 3 promotion. However, Amazon obviously made a mistake on the suggested retail being $42. In any case, I use this cup almost every day and recently had to replace it. Why? My last one, exactly like this one, also from Amazon, chipped on the edge with less than two years' use. This could have happened in one of two ways. I must have been careless, either in stacking it in the dishwasher, or stacking it to save space with the one-cup Pyrex measure, which also chipped in less than two years. However, I have used Pyrex for years (over 30) and never had this problem before. Actually, there is a third way this could have happened; my husband could have done it and will be advised about proper handling. In any case, my advice is not to stack this cup and to watch how you place it in the dishwasher.
The classic Pyrex measuring cup.Mar 26, 2010 Well, who doesn't have one? We have this size and a bigger size. This thing is made to last. Thick walled with red letters that are easy to read. Has a spout and a handle for easier pouring. Dishwasher safe and very easy to clean. Will not stain. Of course Pyrex are famous for being heat resistant, although we never really tried putting it directly on top of an open flame, you can be sure it will not shatter if you put boiling hot water in it. Measuring oil in a plastic measuring cup is not a good idea, most of the oil will stick to the sides, not with the Pyrex glass.
