It will help protect clothes and valuables from the damaging effects of mold/mildew and moisture rot. It is 100% renewable and needs no power to operate. Just hang the Eva-dry unit in a closet, or you can place it in other small, enclosed spaces, and it will start to adsorb moisture. There are no batteries required or cords to plug in, the unit works without power. There is an indicator window with special "moisture meter crystals" that change from blue (when dry) to pink (when wet) to indicate when the unit needs to be "renewed". The unit will adsorb approximately 8-10 ounces of moisture (depending on humidity levels this should take between 6 - 8 weeks). Once the moisture has been adsorbed it cannot leak or spill. This unit uses a specialized, engineered, crystallized silica gel that is odorless, non-toxic and completely safe. When the indicator crystals turn pink it is time to "re-new" the unit. Simply remove the unit from where it is adsorbing moisture and plug it into a power outlet or power strip in a well ventilated area (bathroom with extraction fan, garage, outside, etc.). There is a built-in heater that will warm the crystals allowing them to expand and release the moisture as water vapor into the outside air. It takes about 12-14 hours to completely re-new the unit. When it is completely renewed the indicator crystals will change back to blue.  Great for a closetJul 21, 2010
I bought this to fit into a walk in closet and then in a safe. The walk in closet was a little to big for this little guy although it did work just not enough. it's perfect for the safe. Plugging it in is easy. After about half a day it is not hydrated and I can put it back to do its job. I'm actually going to buy 2 for the walk in closet. It's easy to read and easy to discharge.

We have a house in the mountains -mostly used on weekends. Mildew has been a problem in the closets in the past. This product seems to do the job and the clothes are dry. I am now considering purchasing a few more for under the sink cabinets in the bathroom. The smaller the space , the better. AND you have to keep the closets closed now- something my kids tend to forget. Wish I had gotten these before. I had always used those crystal bags, which smell and are expensive if you use them alot.These work much better and last about a month before re charging.

Tried to re-charge the item and it wouldn't work. Even left it plugged in longer than the 14 hours it tells you in the instructions. Unfortunately it was past the amazon return policy and the mfg warranty states you have to register in 30 days...what a terrible policy.

I would give it five stars if it stayed in the receptacle when recharging. This is not necessarily a fault of the unit, but its design. Some receptacles are looser than others. I support it from beneath and it stays plugged in for charging.
As a gun cabinet dehumidifier, it works perfectly. It could be no better.
